9/11 Commission Records

provides official documents from the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States. Congress created the "9/11 Commission," as it was called, to provide a "full and complete accounting" of the September 11, 2001, attacks and to recommend how to prevent future attacks. The commission existed from 2003-2004. During that time, it held hearings, conducted interviews, and produced a report. (National Archives and Records Administration)

De Lôme Letter (detail)
This letter, written by the Spanish Ambassador to the United States, Enrique Dupuy de Lôme, criticized American President William McKinley by calling him weak and concerned only with gaining the favor of the crowd. Publication of the letter helped generate public support for a war with Spain over the issue of independence for the Spanish colony of Cuba.
